Foster Cat Caregiver

Overview

Provides temporary homes for cats and kittens, offering daily care, socialization, and love until they are ready for adoption.

Responsibilities

~ Provide safe, clean, and loving temporary homes for foster cats
~ Feed cats according to prescribed schedules and dietary requirements
~ Monitor cat health and behavior, reporting concerns to Foster Coordinator
~ Administer medications as directed
~ Socialize cats to prepare them for adoption, especially shy or fearful cats
~ Maintain clean litter boxes and living spaces
~ Transport cats to veterinary appointments when possible
~ Take photos and videos for adoption promotion
~ Provide behavioral assessments and updates to Foster Coordinator
~ Assist with meet-and-greets for potential adopters
~ Reach out to Foster Coordinator for supplies at least 3-4 days before you are out
~ Participate in Foster Chat on Facebook Messenger

Time Commitment

Daily care (2-3 hours per day); flexible long-term commitment; Must attend at least 2 meet and greet events a month.

Skills

~ Experience with cat care and behavior ~ Ability to recognize signs of illness or distress
~ Able to administer medications
~ Patience with shy, scared, or special needs cats
~ Reliable and committed to daily care routines
~ Willingness to become emotionally attached while understanding temporary nature of fostering
~ Pet-friendly living situation with landlord approval if renting
